My new favorite beverage!

So I bought this drink at IrBen a local Asian goods and rentals place simply because it came with a toy. I tried it... it wasn't bad, I'd buy it again. Yadda yadda yadda... I was bored and decided to check out their website. Once I get there I was like WTF!? Their site prominently displays this ballet-dancing pic in a blue tie and pink blazer. It was one of the most bizarre things I've seen in a while...

This got me curiouser so I examined the toy I got with it. It had an unusual weight to it, and then I discovered it had magnets in it, so when you bring the pig closer to the bottle the bottle would then run away! This is when I decided Dakara would become my new favorite soft drink.

December 7th, 2007 The MT Hebei Spirit (an oil tanker carrying 1.9 million barrels of crude oil) collided with a crane barge owned by Samsung Heavy Industries off the western shore of South Korea. The tanker was holed in 3-5 places, and spilled approximately 12,000 tons of oil.

Within a month, over 1 million volunteers were on the scene, helping with the clean-up. Blame and liability are still being settled, with Samsung, the tugboat operator, and the tanker captain all sharing some of the blame. Marine farmers and citizens are angry over the loss of their livelihoods - protesting, and in at least three cases, committing suicide, including Ji Chang-Hwan, 56. Ji drank a bottle of herbicide before running on stage (during a rally demanding greater compensation) and dousing himself with paint thinner. He then set himself on fire with a cigarette lighter, dying in hospital the next morning.

A trial of five people accused of negligence in the spill began January 25th.

I can't sleep...

Or most likely, I don't want to sleep....

In the time I'm using in occupying the night I found I'm very much a digital pack rat. Many gigs of my hard drive space have been squandered in keeping movies, music, pics, emails, etc. that for a moment captured my interest.

The same could actually said about my real life. My room is scattered with papers, comics, books, toys and varying knick knacks I don't need. One day I'll find the time to clean/exhume my actual and digital environment. If my sleeping habits keep up that day will be soon...

Blog V.3!!

Wow... It's been almost a year since I last used this. Very sad...

Anyway, I'm starting this blog-thing up again to 1) Get those creative writing juices flowing again, and 2) Keep myself from sleeping. Freddy's gonna get me if I do! j/k

I'm trying to go to bed early, but I always find something to occupy my nocturnal habits. Tonight it's blogging. I'm not going to get into any specific topic though, I just wanted to get something out there. If this holds my interest tomorrow I'll change up the look. Not like anyone cares or even read this. :P

I just renewed my hipster nerd liscense!

This weekend I finally stopped dilly-dallying and mucking about, and
got myself a new computer. Yessir, you are now reading a blog about the newest owner of an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac!

Not only that, I've finally jumped on that bandwagon they call World of Warcraft. I just started, but so far it's been fun. I haven't gone full-on nerdcore yet, I'm still waiting for my WoW costume to ship.

Huuu!!! My books have arrived!

I decided to put an order on a couple books at YesAsia just to try out their service and the books were really cheap. So I picked out Leah Dizon: Petite Amie and Razor Ramon HG: the Book and nearly a month later they've arrived! Yay!! Too bad I can't read Japanese...

5 o'clock at night/in the morning

Like the subject line says it's late/early in the night and I have no desire to go to bed.

Just got back from a celebratory get-together for my pal Sounaly's birthday. Happy 36th birthday Sounaly! ;)

... I'm listening to a lot of slow songs right now. I don't why. I'm not in any type of mood or anything, but the lilting melodies some how feel appropriate tonight.

Here's a list of of some of the songs on my 5 a.m. playlist right now. I'm not going to provide any links to any downloads though. Find them yourself. :P

I Love: Amy Winehouse

Lately I've been digging on UK artist Amy Winehouse. Give her Back to Black album a listen to. Style's very much like girl groups from the 50s and 60s only with modern sensibilities.

Harold is on Random

- Not feeling too hot right now, but I can't sleep, so I'm gonna blog until I start feeling drowsy.

- Listening to some Mark Ronson. He's one hot DJ/producer.

- Like many tech geeks, I started to touch myself inappropriately when Apple's iPhone was announced. Final judgement's still pending until it's actually out, but one can always fantasize how good it'll feel in hand.

- Quick recap of 2006:
- Many hookups, breakups, and marriages. Neither involving me.
- Great experience traveling to Las Vegas, Orlando, and various small towns for festivals or other.
- Good year for activities too. Tried lot of new things like tennis, ice skating, and camping. Dropped a couple of pounds to show for it.
- Bought a new car. Honda Fit. Been treating me good so far. Most common comment: Cute.

- Been getting into this Jdrama called Stand Up!! It's a romantic comedy about four high school friends and the pressures of virginity.

- Not tired yet, but I'm gonna end this entry here until I find more junk to blog.

TEAMWORK!

Hoo-Yeahh!!! Back to blogging once more! And what better time than on my birthday. Yay birthday! To commemorate this occasion, let's throw it back to some Reading Rainbow for retro happiness. But you don't have to take my word for it!

Well, it's Valentine's...

As a lonely, single man I'd like to think I've the right to despise Valentine's Day. The stench of love burns the eyes most fiercely in the Day of Valentine. But I'm used to it. What I'm NOT used to is the fact there are some people who claim to be in love, not wanting to celebrate their love on this day. And I ask why?

There's other days where I show my love: anniversaries, birthdays, sometimes I'll surprise him/her on some random day.
Good for you. What's another day then?

I'll get him/her something the week later when it's all on sale.
What's the point? I'm sure February 21st means something to someone, but giving a box of chocolates to someone with the 50% off sticker still on kinda loses the mystique of Valentines.

It's a corporate created holiday designed to sell red & pink merchandise.
Ah... Capitalism at it's finest. More merchandise is sold during the holiday seasons. Corporate greed has tricked out the holidays for your consumer-whoring pleasure... But does that mean the sentiment there has no meaning? Can you truly buy love? I applaud your need to not support Consumerism of the holidays, but there are other ways to celebrate it. Cook an extravagant dinner, write a poem, serenade your beloved, or set the mood for a long night of sweet, sweet loving. As long as you don't let the day fall by the wayside.

I implore you those in love, let your creative (and whatever) juices flow, and show your love how much you care. Give yourself to humility, everyone would understand, because on this day they have done the same for love! Just don't do it in front of me, you bastards.

Why do new shows I like get cancelled?

As with the case of Dead Like Me. I only recently discovered this show a couple of weeks ago, the premise was unique and the characters engaging, and I really liked it. Then I found out it's been cancelled after 2 seasons. Crap. I just bought the season 1 DVD too.

Now the 'net-nerds are saying that Arrested Development is in trouble of cancellation because the network lowered the number of shows ordered from 22 to 18 to make room for American Dad. This is a very "Chicken Little" mentality, but it makes you wonder why good shows get cancelled before they're past their prime?

Ben Lee - Catch My Disease

Lord of the Rings musings

I wish there was a Lord of the Rings Christmas Special. Picture it:
Sauron returns on Christmas Eve wrecking havoc for whatever reason and the Fellowship reunites (even the dead ones) to do battle, but in the end the pure heart of a small hobbit child shows Sauron the true meaning of Christmas through the power of song. Imagine orcs and goblins trimming the tree, Aragorn and Arwyn snogging by the fireplace, a shy Gollum joining the festivities only because Frodo edges him on. It'd be T.V. magic!
Speaking of Christmas, doesn't Aragorn look like Jesus? I'm sure they could tie that in some how...
And yes, I do know Christmas has long past. So what? I want more franchise-based T.V. specials.

SONG OF THE DAY
Immortal Technique - Peruvian Cocaine

Happy New Years!

New Years resolutions? Not quite, they're more like New Years goals with no real expectations.
• Blog more often.
• Find a girlfriend.
• Be more organized.
• Save money.
• Donate blood.
• Break up with girlfriend for hotter sister.
• Get to the gym more often.
• Travel.
• Learn to cook.
• Learn how to play guitar.
• Serenade a girl by playing More Than Words on guitar.
• Become deadly with nunchaku.
• Read more books. Ones without pretty pictures.
• Be more ambitious with my goals.
